Neven Maguire, Jonny Murphy and JP McMahon among lineup for Electric Picnic's Theatre of Food
The Theatre of Food is retuning for its seventeenth year in 2025.
Electric Picnic’s Theatre of Food is back for 2025, with a lineup of celebrity chefs including Neven Maguire, Jonny Murphy (The Hungry Hooker) and Michelin-starred chef JP McMahon.
Maguire, of MacNean Restaurant, will combine his main stage cooking demo with a live DJ set alongside viral chef vlogger Marcus O’Laoire.
The weekend will also feature baking sessions from Murphy, McMahon and Graham Herterich, known as The Cupcake Bloke, in what organisers are calling an “all-Ireland Bake Off.”
Across the Theatre’s three stages – the main Theatre of Food stage, the Drinks Theatre, and the Garden Stage – visitors can expect barbecue masterclasses, cocktail shows and a return of the popular Theatre of Food Pub Quiz.
Sunday’s charity brunch will once again raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society and Cancer Care West.
This year’s programme includes a celebration of “Paddystinian” culture, featuring food and stories from Cafe Izz, One Plate for Palestine and others.
Elsewhere, Ashford Castle’s Liam Finnegan will share picnic tips, while Lir Seafood – stars of Great British Menu – will demonstrate seafood techniques.
In the Drinks Theatre, curated by Irish drinks writer Aoife Carrigy, sessions range from cocktail history to modern alcohol-free alternatives. Kildare’s Judith and Susan Boyle will showcase their “Punches and Cups” cocktail show, historians Christina Wade and Donal Fallon are set to explore the origins of the Irish pub, as well as sustainability-focused tastings from Wine Lab and Sip Wines.
Theatre of Food runs throughout the Electric Picnic weekend, promising “a mix of flavours, music and conversation from some of Ireland’s leading food and drink voices.”
