Neil Jordan Donates Archive to National Library of Ireland
Oscar-winning screenwriter and director Neil Jordan is to donate his archive today to National Library of Ireland, it has been announced.
The National Library of Ireland (NLI) will mark the donation of the archive of the Irish director, Neil Jordan at a special event at 11am this morning, which will be attended by the Minister for Culture, Heritage & the Gaeltacht, Josepha Madigan.
Born in Sligo in 1950, Neil Jordan has achieved international critical acclaim for his writing and directing. His films include Michael Collins (1996), The Butcher Boy (1997), Interview with a Vampire, We're No Angels, High Spirits, and Breakfast on Pluto (2005).
In 1992, New Jordan won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for The Crying Game, which he wrote and directed. In 2003, Neil Jordan was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Irish Film and Television Academy.
Items from New Jordan's donation, including film and TV scripts, production files, storyboards, plays, notebooks, personal correspondence with artistic collaborators and political figures and behind the scenes photography of the Oscar-nominated Michael Collins will be on display in the NLI’s book-lined Boardroom and Director’s Office.
