Kevin Spacey’s Latest Film Earns Less than $400 in Opening Weekend
This was the last project from the actor before being hit with numerous sexual assault allegations.
Billionaire Boys Club, based off of a book of the same name, has opened to overwhelming negative reviews and a staggering $126 on opening night. The following night, the film earned just $161 dollars.
The film is based on the real life Billionaire Boys Club in Southern California during the 1980s. As well as Spacey, the film stars Ansel Elgort, Taron Egerton, Emma Roberts, Jeremy Irvine, and Judd Nelson.
Filmed in 2015, Billionaire Boys Club is one of the final films that Spacey worked on prior to the sexual misconduct accusations against him. These allegations called for a complete revamp of the film’s scheduling and marketing campaign.
In October 2017, actor Anthony Rapp alleged that Spacey made sexual advances toward him in 1986, when Rapp was 14 and Spacey was 26. Following this revelation, fifteen others followed in Rapp’s footsteps and accused the Academy Award winning actor of sexual assault. Since these allegations, Spacey has been let go from his critically acclaimed Netflix series, House of Cards.
