Everybody's Gone To The Rapture - Review
The End Of The World As We Know It
Last of the Summer Wine meets Invasion of the Body Snatchers in a first person adventure unlike anything you’ve seen before. The game is set in an English rural community in the aftermath of a catastrophe, where all the inhabitants have mysteriously disappeared.
Roam the deserted streets, exploring pubs, houses, garages and train stations, and observe fragments of past scenes to piece the story together. At the heart of the tale is an American scientist and her partner who discovered a lifeform in the observatory where they work.
Woven around this Twilight Zone mystery are sub-plots about unrequited love, loss of faith, and small town struggles. The game, set in 1984, captures the terror of ’80s emergency infomercials and employs a bewitching soundtrack of choirs, ambience and orchestras.
There are no puzzles to solve or tests to overcome. Piecing together the dislocated narrative, while venturing deep into the Shropshire countryside, is the real challenge here.
