Derry Girls' Louisa Harland stars in first look at upcoming fantasy Disney+ series Renegade Nell
The eight-episode fantasy adventure series is due to release in this Spring on Disney+.
The first look at the upcoming UK series Renegade Nell has been released, starring Irish actress and Derry Girls alum Louisa Harland as the titular heroine.
Created by BAFTA-award-winning writer and creator Sally Wainwright (Gentleman Jack) and acclaimed director Ben Taylor, Renegade Nell follows Harland's Nell, a quick-witted and courageous young woman who, after a series of unfortunate events becomes the most notorious highwaywoman in 18th Century England.
Harland first rose to fame in her role as the quirky Orla McCool in the endlessly popular Northern Irish teen comedy series Derry Girls, whose final season aired last year.
Joining Harland is a stacked cast, including Nick Mohammed of Ted Lasso fame as a magical spirit named Billy Blind, Frank Dillane (Fear the Walking Dead) as Nell’s "fickle friend and sometime adversary" Charles Devereux, and Adrian Lester (Mary Queen of Scots), and Alice Kremelberg (The Sinner) whose characters join forces to try and take Nell down.
The eight-episode series is set to premiere in Spring 2024 on Disney+.
