Chris Evans Quits Top Gear
It's one and done for the famous red headed television presenter
Chris Evans has announced that he is leaving the newly relaunched television show Top Gear.
It was a short reign on the show as Evans only lasted for one series. Reportedly ratings were a huge factor in the decision, as last Sunday's viewing figures were an estimated 1.9 million.
"Stepping down from Top Gear. Gave it my best shot but sometimes that's not enough, Evans tweeted. "I feel like my standing aside is the single best thing I can now do to help the cause.
In a statement released via the BBC, he added: "I have never worked with a more committed and driven team than the team I have worked with over the last 12 months.
"I remain a huge fan of the show, always have been, always will be."
Other presenters in the running to replace Evans are Guy Martin and Steve Coogan
Stepping down from Top Gear. Gave it my best shot but sometimes that's not enough. The team are beyond brilliant, I wish them all the best.
