Promoter says Sheeran “would have sold out a third gig”
Ed Sheeran, street busker cum stadium regular, returns to Dublin to two sold out Croker gigs this weekend.
“There was an opportunity to do three shows… No doubt” Mr Aiken commented on the situation. This refers the the regulations of only allowing three concerts per year. The Script filled the first slot last month.
Ed Sheeran’s last Dublin visit was one of the most successful 3Arena weekends of 2014, selling out four consecutive dates, lending truth to Aiken’s claims.
“We could have done more Sheeran concerts but there won’t be another show, there can’t be.”
This continues the shroud of disappointment and grief surrounding Coke Park concerts. It comes one year after the Garth Brooks dates collapsed, leaving 400,000 fans sour, as well as promoters.
Door open on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th July at 17.00, with Sheeran expected to take to the stage at 20.00. Support includes Irish acts Gavin James and Bell X1 on Friday, with Bell X1 returning Saturday alongside Jamie Lawson.
