BPM Records to close in Waterford and Wexford

The bad news from the south-east is that BPM Records are to close their remaining stores in Waterford and Wexford. They’d already been forced to pull the plug on their Mallow and New Ross outlets due to a downturn in sales.
“It’s the end of an era,” they rue. “The days of browsing through our music and DVD selections are now at an end. The future lies on the internet or in an aisle at your nearest multinational supermarket. Obviously we’re sorry to have to admit defeat and hope that we’ll be missed.
“The directors, management and staff would like to thank you for all your loyal support over the years. As a last hurrah we’d like to offer you a 20% discount on everything in our shops – nothing excluded – except the staff!”
Ardent supporters of Irish music, the Gilsenan family have been fighting the good fight since 1988 when they opened BPM’s predecessor, KG Discs, in the Broadstreet Shopping Centre.
