The Mission Statement
After the sonic debris left by his anarchic Complete Death Of Cool compilation, Si Begg pushes in the opposite direction with his own new album.
After the sonic debris left by his anarchic Complete Death Of Cool compilation, Si Begg pushes in the opposite direction with his own new album. Released as SI Futures, The Mission Statement looks to subvert the corporate music world from the inside. Begg’s detractors might argue that the parody of the world of big business sits uneasily with the comparatively accessible tone of Mission Statement, but even the most ‘conventional’ tracks here are imbued with his quirky, freestyle touch.
If anything, this new work is the logical successor to his Telos album as Buckfunk 3000; from house to electro, hip to disco and breaks to hardcore – often in the space of one track, Mission Statement is Si Begg’s most wide ranging album to date.
