Dublin Fringe Festival
Dublin Fringe Festival
The Fringe is where artists challenge, subvert and invigorate their disciplines and practice. An active curator, the Fringe supports artistic vision, ambition and excellence across a range of art forms and offers supports, resources, space, time and professional development to the Irish independent arts sector. Followed by long-term fans and first-timers alike, the Dublin Fringe Festival attracts more than 30,000 spectators for 16 days and nights each September, transforming Dublin into a melting pot of great creative talent from around the globe. The scale and environment of the event broadens arts participation, introducing artists to audiences and playing a pivotal role in the fabric of Irish cultural life.
Highlights this year include: internet sensations Foil Arms & Hog, who are back with a new show, Craicling; The Sound Of Phoenix by Shanna May Breen, a site-specific travelling soundscape of Phoenix Park, which takes place on a vintage bus; and The Money by Kaleider Productions, a cross between a game and a theatrical performance, where the audience in City Hall will have to decide unanimously how to spend a pot of real cash within the space of an hour. Elsewhere, there’s a courtroom musical from popstar twins Trevor and Elliot Century (AKA ‘Trelliot’), called Trial Of The Century; and I Am Dynamite, a creative symposium looking at artistic dissent, curated by journalist, writer and screenwriter Roisin Agnew.
