Winterval Waterford Official Opening (Photos)

Winterval Waterford is Officially Open! Ireland’s largest Christmas festival officially opened in Waterford City on Friday evening with the switching on of the Christmas lights in the Broad Street by the Mayor of Waterford City & County, Cllr. Séamus Ryan, Waterford Local Radio's Dymphna Nugent (who compared the event) and of course Santa. The evening's entertainment kicked off with the wonderful voice of Glenn Murphy and Killian Browne on keyboard. Dymphna Nugent then introduced the Mayor of Waterford, Cllr. Séamus Ryan. When this was taking place, the main man himself, Santa, secretly landed on the roof of the Cathedral. The enormous crowd, particularly the younger onlookers who had gathered, went wild with excitement when he made his way to the stage. At the stroke of 6 pm, there was an official countdown and with the push of a magical button on the Winterval Stage, the Mayor of Waterford, Dymphna Nugent, and of course Santa fired huge confetti cannons, turning on the Christmas Lights.

On Sunday night, the attention moved to Waterford's Quay area for a breathtaking Drone Show Spectacular as 150 illuminated drones lit up the night above the River Suir in a magical display of colour, movement, and festive wonder. The dazzling light formations and enchanting shapes danced through the sky, choreographed to a heartwarming festive soundtrack that captures the spirit of the season.
