Tom Grennan Rips Up Cork's Big Top and Throw's it into River Lee! Under the iconic big top on Centre Park Road, the atmosphere at Cork's Live at the Marquee was electric for Tom Grennan’s highly anticipated, sole Irish date last night. The English singer with huge family connections in Offaly ripped up the big top stage with a nonstop action packed performance.
Kicking off the evening, Yorkshire singer-songwriter Fiona-Lee commanded the gathering crowd with a raw, uncompromising presence. Stepping onto the massive Marquee stage for her Irish debut the young English singer gave a gritty, soulful and fiercely honest
set. Armed with a powerhouse folk-rock voice, her performance of recent material proved exactly why she is one of the most exciting rising talents to watch.
Shifting gears perfectly fast-rising indie-pop artist Jamie McIntyre brought a surge of rhythmic energy and infectious melodic hooks that got the floor moving. His crisp guitar work and effortless crowd interaction acted as the perfect bridge, transforming the tent into a synchronized, swaying mass of people ready for the main event.
When Grennan bounded onto the stage, the sheer volume inside the tent was deafening. He thrives on the energy of the live stage, and the Marquee’s unique, trapped acoustic environment suited his gravelly, booming baritone perfectly.
Opening with a blast of high-octane brass and driving percussion, he wasted no time diving into a setlist that masterfully balanced his massive, anthemic radio hits with raw, introspective cuts from his latest record.
Tracks from 'Everywhere I Went Led Me To Where I Didn't Want To Be' translated beautifully into a live arena. The crowd screamed back every word of his newer tracks, proving the deep connection his Irish fanbase has with his evolution as a songwriter.
Mid-way through the set, a run of massive hits like "Little Bit of Love" and "Found What I've Been Looking For" sent the crowd into absolute meltdown. Grennan’s energy didn't flag for a second; he covered every inch of the stage, trading smiles and pointing out specific fans in the front rows.
What sets Grennan apart is his control. He can transition from a roaring, throat-shredding rock chorus to a quiet, delicate acoustic moment without breaking a sweat. His backing band was airtight, providing a wall of sound that elevated his raspy tone. The Marquee has seen some brilliant performances this season but Tom Grennan was a stand out last night.
