When an awards ceremony holds an eclectic quality line-up with Fontaines D.C., Jafaris, Sorcha Richardson, Soak, Junior Brother, Daithí, Maija Sofia and Mick Flannery, there’s no doubt that Irish music is in very good shape. Only the performances of Girl Band and Lankum were missing on stage, especially when at the end of the night it was announced that the new trad heroes won the album of the year award for The Livelong Day.
