Rockaway Beach Festival (Photos)
Eleven years in, the earliest festival on the calendar shows no sign of resting on its laurels and, true to form, brought an array of acclaimed establish acts and a plethora of exciting emerging talent.
While Public Image Limited, Soft Play, Dry Cleaning, Idlewild and Mercury prize winners English Teacher brought thousands to the bigger Studio 36 stage, breaking acts such as Y, Home Counties, Prima Queen, We Hate You Please Die, Chest, Antony Szmierek and Voka Gentle wowed the packed Centre Stage venue. Saturday night’s treat came in the form of a beautifully chaotic performance by one of Lias Saoudi’s better avant garde projects, The Moonlandingz which was immediately preceded by fellow Fat White Family member Saul Adamczewsk and his more reflective and unashamedly tuneful outfit, Insecure Men. At a time when new year resolutions are high on the agenda it’s abundantly clear that the wisest resolution would be to return to Rockaway Beach in January 2027.
