Kaiser Chiefs Live at the Docklands (Photos)
Kaiser Chiefs 20 Year Celebration Live at the Docklands! Kaiser Chiefs brought the curtain down on this year's Live at the Docklands series with a stratospheric performance of their "Employment" 20th Anniversary Tour last night on Limerick's waterfront.
The band's setlist focused heavily on their acclaimed debut album, Employment, which they are celebrating two decades of. The crowd's excitement was heightened by two electrifying sets from Brighton's five-piece art-rock band, Youth Sector, and Kilkenny's alternative metal band, Kerbdog.
The atmosphere was palpable from the moment the band opened with the iconic keys of "Everyday I Love You Less And Less." The epic start continued with
"I Predict A Riot," and "Modern Way," which were met with deafening cheers and sing-alongs.
Frontman Ricky Wilson was a dynamic presence, showcasing the showmanship and stage presence that have become synonymous with the band's live shows. The band's performance was a non-stop ride from start to finish, with the audience feeding off their enthusiasm.
The main set was a journey through the Employment album, with the band playing the entire record in full. The night was made complete with an extended encore featuring some of their biggest hits from other albums. The crowd was treated to a powerful rendition of "Ruby" and "The Angry Mob." A notable and well-received surprise was the band's cover of The Ramones' timeless classic, "Blitzkrieg Bop," which further electrified the atmosphere. The crowd was a key component of the show's success, with their loud chanting and high energy adding to the spectacle. It was a fitting finale to the Docklands series, which saw Moncrieff, Pictures This, The Saw Doctors, Block Rockin Beats, The Waterboys, Kingfishr, and Qween grace the stage over the last three weeks.
