Fifteen '80s Irish bands that should have been massive: THE SEQUEL IS COMING!
We're lining up a brand new series of the acts that didn't quite turn out to be the next U2...
The internet, as you well know, is a strange place! We've run many a piece on hotpress.com that has trended for a few days and then disappeared off into the ether - well, our archive, which is available for your free perusal during the lockdown.
Sometimes, though, those pieces keep coming back, which is very much the case with our 2017 look at the 1980s and '90s Irish acts that in a parallel universe have just rescheduled their latest stadium tour for early next year while the former members of one-hit wonders U2 sit at home in their two up/two downs wondering where it all went wrong?
One of our most-reads throughout the Easter Bank Holiday, the list Team Hot Press threw together over a pint or five in The International Bar - how we miss you old friend! - has prompted loads of tweets from people remembering their favourite should have beens but weren't quites.
So, before we start compiling some new lists - Lir, The Golden Horde, Engine Alley, Tokyo Olympics, Big Self, Les Enfants, Azure Days, Light A Big Fire, The Way It Is, Giant, D11 Runners, Up The Downstairs, They Do It With Mirrors, Burning Embers, Driveshaft, Fastway, Mangled Ferret, Missing Link, Those Nervous Animals, Premonition, Minor Detail and Hellfire Club are some of the names you've been firing at us - here's the original Fifteen Irish Bands That Should Have Been Massive that just won't go away!
