Matt Johnson’s quintet kick off their Ensouled world tour at Collins Barracks with a stunning set of classics (‘Uncertain Smile’, ‘This Is The Day’, ‘Armageddon Days’, ‘Heartland’) and tracks such as ‘Cognitive Dissident’ and ‘Linoleum Smooth to the Stockinged Foot’ from the forthcoming’Ensoulment’ album. Performing an array of stirring songs (‘Black Maria’, ‘The Flower I Flung Into Her Grave’, ‘The Dealers’) from this year’s ‘No Flowers Grow in Cement Gardens’ (a strong contender for album of the year) Dublin’s own A Lazarus Soul proved to be a force to be reckoned with and easily won over the close-to-capacity crowd.
