Album Review: Fox Jaw – Breathe In The Strange
Solid effort from Limerick rockers.
Fox Jaw have been around for years, and the Limerick quintet have doubtless figured out exactly what their fans are looking for by now. Thus, though by no means a radical reinvention, Breathe In The Strange is a solid, purposeful album.
Infectious opener ‘Madeline’ certainly captures the attention, even if the expected slam-dunk never quite arrives. There’s another catchy bass line on lead single ‘Sun Goes Sideways’, though it eventually disappears beneath the layers of production.
The best moments seem invariably to come at the start of each track, and for drum aficionados, Shane Serrano’s tight grooves are a real treat. I might hanker after something starker at times, but Fox Jaw fans will surely delight in Breathe In The Strange.
Breathe In The Strange is out now.
