Zayn announces new album Konnakol
Zayn recently wrapped up his seven-night residency at Vegas’ Dolby Live at Park MGM, where he teased unreleased music.
Zayn Malik has announced his fifth studio album, Konnakol, out April 15.
The first single from the project, 'Die for Me', will be released this Friday, February 6. Konnakol is said to expand on the sound heard on his record-breaking debut studio album, Mind of Mine.
A snow leopard, a symbol of South Asian heritage, appears on the album's cover to reflect how the record is inspired by Malik's South Asian roots.
The singer incorporated snow leopard imagery as a hidden detail during his Las Vegas performances at Dolby Live, Park MGM, in January.
“It’s that time again; I have been lucky enough to make a fifth studio album,” said Zayn.
“Konnakol, in its definition, is the act of creating percussive sounds with one’s voice but what it means to me lies somewhere much deeper; it's a sound that holds the reverberation of a time before words existed.
"I have always drawn on my heritage for inspiration since I first started making my own music.
"This album is a development of that understanding, knowing more now than ever who I am, where I come from and where I intend to go.”
Konnakol is the follow-up to 2024's Room Under the Stairs, which got to No. 26 in the Irish Album Charts and No. 15 on the US Billboard 200.
