Wrong Meeting Part 2
While the first Meeting was inspired by Nick Cave’s songcraft and The Pixies’ guitar duels, the second outing sees Andrew Weatherall blatantly wear his blues, rockabilly and garage punk influences.
While the first Meeting was inspired by Nick Cave’s songcraft and The Pixies’ guitar duels, the second outing sees Andrew Weatherall blatantly wear his blues, rockabilly and garage punk influences. The lyrics still focus on his trials and tribulations, with the brassy rockabilly swagger of ‘The Ghosts of Dragstrip Hollow’ warning the starry-eyed to steer clear of Lord Sabre. His pain is also evident on the raw, bluesy guitars of ‘In The Shadow of a Dark Heart Sun’ and ‘Hey Deborah Anne’ – the former a moving call and response affair with an unknown femme fatale and the latter the follow-up to ‘Get Out Of My Kingdom’ on the first album. It’s a meeting you’ll never forget.
