Workman's Club headliner Gareth Dunlop celebrates NI Music Prize nomination
The awards will take place in Belfast's Ulster Hall on November 13
Having lit up The Workman's Club last night, Belfast born singer-songwriter Gareth Dunlop has been shortlisted for the Northern Ireland Music Prize 2024 for his album Welcome to the House of I Don't Know.
The awards will take place in Belfast's Ulster Hall on November 13, where winners are in with a chance to win £3000. Previous winners of the prestigious prize include Foy Vance, Snow Patrol and Two Door Cinema Club.
KNEECAP, Blue Whale, Cherym and Dana Masters are amongst the 12 shortlisted artists in the album category.
The artists third LP, Welcome to the House of I Don't Know, was written by Dunlop throughout his Americana festival run including writing sessions in Nashville. The album was released in June of this year, under record label Zenith Café. The Belfast based label focuses on artist development, partnering with industry professionals to support and invest in local artists.
Dunlop's music journey has included sought after support slots including Irish artists such as Van Morrison and Snow Patrol, along with his music featured in international television shows such as Suits and This is Us.
