We Rock Hard (Freskanova)
The album we’ve all been waiting for. Ever since the opening track ‘Freestyle Noize’ (from last year’s Uprock EP) grabbed everyone’s attention, Freestylers have become one of the hottest acts in dance music. We’ve had a couple of hit singles – ‘B-Boy Stance’ and ‘Ruffneck’ – to build up the fanbase, and a stream of consistently brilliant remixes, and the stage is now set for We Rock Hard to become one of the biggest dance albums of the year. It’s certainly one of the best. Old skool cut-and-paste techniques may dominate the proceedings, with hip-hop, electro, ragga and drum ‘n’ bass all major influences, but the end result is always fresh and exciting. Both singles had guest vocalists, and a number of others add some spice to the album, like the legendary Soul Sonic Force on the aptly-named title track – these boys certainly do rock! (MK)
