Watch: The Weeknd teases new music with short film 'Mania'
New album Starboy is laced with pop-icon influences
Canadian singer-songwriter Abél Makkonen Tesfaye, famously known as The Weeknd, has put forth a lengthy 12-minute video in anticipation of his new album Starboy, which arrives tomorrow, November 25.
Directed by Grant Singer, the visual melds elements from The Weeknd's past videos for 'Starboy' and 'False Alarm.' The video also features pieces of new tracks from the albumStarboy, including 'Party Monster' and 'I Feel It Coming.' In a September interview with VMAN, The Weeknd spoke about how the influence for the album came from Prince, The Smiths, David Bowie, Talking Heads and Bad Brains.
