WATCH: Cork act Yenkee goes on seaside adventure in Kojaque-directed 'Drive' video
With a plethora of sold out shows in Ireland under his belt and a feature on the 'Normal People' soundtrack; Yenkee is poised to keep the momentum going throughout 2021.
Fresh from releasing his brand new single ‘Drive’ on May 28th, Yenkee is back with a brand new music video to accompany the hypnotic track.
Directed by Soft Boy Records' very own Kojaque, the video follows London-based musician Graham Cooney (AKA Yenkee) on a seaside getaway with his lover.
“The inspiration came from Yenkee's lyrics, particularly the voice note where the kids talk about angels and how a feather is a sign that an angel is watching you. So I wanted to make Yenkee’s beautiful wife into an angel," Kojaque says of the music video's origins.
While the single shows a more emotional and meditative side to Yenkee; the video itself shows a lighter, more humorous side to the emerging indie artist. The track was recorded in Cooney's hometown of Cork City during the summer of 2020 as he prepared to move to London.
In the artist's words; "'Drive' is about growing up and beginning to doubt the advice you've accepted through the years, before ultimately accepting that it is all useful, no matter how contradictory."
