'When It All Runs Out' is directed at world leaders who continue to go to war over finite resources that should be shared equally, according to Danny G.
Irish neosoul act Danny G & the Major 7ths are celebrating the release of their sophomore album The Lookout with a brand-new single - ‘When It All Runs Out’.
Hot Press are delighted to premiere the music video for the song, which explores the country of Venezuela, illustrating the difficult reality of most livelihoods in the South American country.
The nation has faced major political upheaval over the last number of years, and Danny G wanted to showcase the beauty and warmth of the people there while contrasting it with the struggle of ordinary folks on the streets facing immense poverty, illness, death and police violence.
Ruben Sevilla allowed the musician to use his unique personal footage for the music video, with the rest of the material used sourced from online public videos.
The track itself is due for release this Friday, January 8th, 2021.

“This song was inspired by visiting Venezuela," Danny G said of the upcoming release. "I wondered how a rich country could have a population living in poverty. How the actions of world leaders, fighting for or making deals for oil and other natural resources could make this earthly paradise look like it was in ruins. I’m asking what we’re going to do when it all runs out.”
"Everything seems to be broken there," he wrote in the YouTube description for the track. "Things don’t work. Buildings need more than just 'a lick of paint' as we’d say in Ireland. Food we take for granted here isn’t available. Stacks of cash are needed to buy anything. Massive queues. No petrol. Too dangerous to go anywhere on foot. The problems in Venezuela are well documented.
"Ask a few people how this happened to one of the richest countries in the world and you’ll get wildly different answers, usually depending on their political leanings or where they’re getting their news," Danny G continues.
"And while both sides of the ideological divide are shown in this music video, I’m seeking to avoid making judgement or provoking a political discussion. I wanted to show the difficult reality, the street clashes, the anger and tension. But also contrast that by showing the spectacular beauty of the region, the warmth of the people, their culture and their proud indigenous roots."
The outfit's second album, The Lookout, was a labour of love and took many years to complete.
Featuring a wide range of talent, the project was mixed to perfection by Ken McCabe (Wolfhound Sound) and was mastered for both vinyl and digital by Fergal Davis.
The artwork is taken from 'Cityscape 1' by Irish artist Conor Gallagher.

This album is a natural progression from the retro soul feel of Danny G & the Major 7ths' 2014 debut (Love Joints) to a deeper, richer sound - evoking the classic neosoul artists of the 2000s.
The Lookout will be available on limited edition yellow vinyl through Bandcamp.
