Unpatterns
Dance legends continue to plow their own path
After spending the last few years working with everyone from Florence + The Machine to Arctic Monkeys, dance duo Simian Mobile Disco return to their first love with an almost minimalist sounding new record in the form of the throbbing Unpatterns. Featuring nine efforts of straight-ahead electro music, the album sees Messrs Ford and Shaw abandon the tried-and-tested approach of roping in their famous mates to collaborate on tracks, in favour of a heads down, no-nonsense, straight-up tour de force of future sounds. ‘A Species Out Of Control,’ ‘I Waited For You’ and ‘Your Love Ain’t Fair’ are stand-outs, confirming that sometimes, less is most definitely more.
