Tracy Bruen releases third track 'What To Do' from upcoming album Waiting
Directed by AMW Visual and starring Sophie Hutchinson, 'What To Do's video is available to stream now.
Tracy Bruen’s lyrical, and delicate voice features in new her uplifting single, ‘What To Do’. This track is the third release from the singer’s album, Waiting. Tracy's song blends a mix of indie-folk music with a gentle melody which brings Bruen’s traditional Irish vocal to the fore. Recorded and produced by Ray Diamond, her album is set for release on January 27th.
The singer’s latest track reflects on the unexpected twists and turns life has to offer, and sees Tracy express a sense of uncertainty in life’s next steps, “I don’t know what to do with myself/ Anymore/ I don't know where to shelve these dreams I hold.”
Choreographed and starring Sophie Hutchinson, the single’s video is directed by Bruen's longtime collaborator, AMW Visual. Speaking of the finished visual, the singer took to Instagram to say “AMW Visual listened to the tune and messaged me outlining her interpretation and vision and I said run with it! Then the incredible Sophie Hutchinson brought it to life in such moving and emotional form.” The video sees Hutchinson’s movements unfurl, led by the track's melody through mesmerising editing.
The musician in her lyrics sorts through the snippets of instructions she’s been told in an attempt to navigate life- instructions that have been unsuccessful- and in doing so, providing a space for a host of wanderers trying to do the same.
“They say be bold, be brave/ Be Strong, be free/ Know that what you do/ Is stronger than what you see/ But that doesn’t work for me.”
With a contrapuntal texture, a countermelody sees the song out, echoing the track’s sentiment, by conveying the feeling of contradiction and uncertainty in the two conflicting melody lines.
