The festive season well and truly in full swing, Galway-based folk duo Niall Teague and Padraic Joyce have shared their new Christmas single, 'Another Merry Christmas.'

On the heels of touring their Grammy shortlisted record What Will We Be, the duo enlisted the help of Contempo Quartet, Galway drumming legend Miki Belton, Jim Higgins (The Stunning, Paul Brady), and bassist Maidhc O’hÉanaigh, to craft the tender seasonal cut — urging listeners not to dwell on the hardships of the past and instead, look towards the future joy of Christmas and the year to come. The new track sonically distils that familiarly wistful sense of yearning for the embrace of loved ones, and the joy of the yuletide season on dark winter nights; creating an atmospheric and nostalgia-inflected seasonal gem that is cosily familiar, yet remarkably singular.

"Another Merry Christmas, is what we’re all hoping for," the duo reflect. Through the storms, wars, and grief, in our own lives and across the world, the thought of holding our nearest and dearest close whilst the snow falls softly amongst twinkling fairy lights never fails to sustain us through long, sometimes lonely winter nights..."

Its a stirringly grand and ornately composed ode to both the festive season and the well-honed, hook-filled lyrical sensibilities of classic songwriting, with all the timeless sonic potential of becoming a future Christmas classic. Another Merry Christmas is all you could wish for from a festive track, as Teague and Joyce's warmly intimate, crooned vocals soar over an enchantingly atmospheric wash of stately, Eleanor Rigby-esque cello, warm bass, folky acoustic guitar and lilting violin.

Acclaimed songwriters in their own right, Teague and Joyce have previously taken part in the international PanCeltic and Oireachtas song contests, whilst their 2023 studio effort What Will We Be, was shortlisted for Grammy consideration under the category of Best Folk Album.
