The rapper and his co-writer refused to appear on the same show as the presidential hopeful.
US hip hop star The Weeknd and his co-writer Belly have refused to appear on the same episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live as presumptive Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump.
Belly said in a statement, "I just didn’t want to feel like I was part of a celebration for somebody who has beliefs that the majority of us don’t agree with". Belly and The Weeknd had been due to prerecord their appearance on the show yesterday but both withdrew from the programme when they became aware that Donald Trump would also be a guest on the same show. The pair were due to perform Belly's newest single, 'Might Not'.
During his appearance on the show Trump said he would debate democratic rival Bernie Sanders but only if it was done for charity. Sanders subsequently tweeted his reply.
Game on. I look forward to debating Donald Trump in California before the June 7 primary.
