Los Angeles pop-punk group The Sophs have announced their debut album GOLDSTAR, which is set to drop on March 13, via Rough Trade Records.
After releasing three standalone singles last year, ‘I'M YOUR FIEND’, ‘SWEAT’, and ‘DEATH IN THE FAMILY’, The Sophs have decided to release their first LP.
The group have also shared the title track of the upcoming record, accompanied by its music video, which was shot and directed by Eric Daniels.
Influenced by Latin music, ‘GOLDSTAR’ starts with a Flamenco-style fingerpicking, and is said to wrestle with the philosophy of truly being good and what that looks like.
"‘GOLDSTAR’ is the worst person you know yelling at God to give them a sign that they are good," explained the frontman of the band, Ethan Ramon.
"In a deliberately unserious way, we want the song to prompt the same question that the album raises, which is - if you are a good person for the wrong reasons, does that detract from your goodness?"
