Tank and The Bangas have announced their upcoming album, The Last Balloon, set to be released on May 15 via Verve Forecast.
The Grammy award-winning, New Orleans-based band's forthcoming album marks the end of a trilogy, following the release of Green Balloon (2019) and Red Balloon (2022).
"I called the album The Last Balloon because I didn't want anyone asking us, ‘When's Purple Balloon coming?’," said lead singer Tarriona ‘Tank’ Ball. "It's the end of the balloons; we're moving into a new space now."
The record features various collaborations with artists such as musician Iman Omari, pianist and producer Tane Runo, and soul singers Ledisi and Jelly Joseph.
"We're working with new people and cultivating new sounds, and it feels like we're more open than we've ever been," said Ball. "What we've learned over the years is that even though people can't always categorise our sound, they're always able to describe how the music makes them feel.
"So, we're gonna keep on changing and evolving, but we're always gonna give you that same feeling of joy."
Alongside the news, the Tank and The Bangas have released the lead single ‘Move’, which features the two-time Grammy award-winning R&B singer-songwriter Lucky Daye.
Tank and The Bangas were formed in 2011 and currently comprises Tarriona "Tank" Ball, multi-instrumentalist Norman Spencer II, with new accompanying members drummer Deven Trusclair, Bassist Kenaniah Turner, keyboardist Rob Kellner, and saxophonist Etienne Stoufflet.
