Sugarhill Gang release new 45th anniversary music video for ‘Rapper’s Delight’

The Sugarhill Gang have released a brand new animated video for their groundbreaking worldwide hit ‘Rapper’s Delight’, celebrating the timeless classic’s 45th anniversary.

Credited as the original pioneers of hip hop, The Sugarhill Gang and ‘Rapper’s Delight’ are responsible for bringing the burgeoning new rap movement into the mainstream.

This new animated video was created by Chilean filmmaker duo Yere. It blends colourful visuals with the classic beats that have inspired generations of musicians and fans alike and captures the spirit of fun and creativity that the song embodies.

It is described as “a celebration of not just this hugely influential track, but the entire hip hop culture that has grown from it,” with dynamic illustrations which reflect the energy and vibrancy of the late 70s and early 80s.

‘Rapper's Delight' is credited with influencing a diverse array of global hip hop stars, from Jay-Z to Kendrick Lamar.
