Skepta samples Amy Winehouse in new single ‘Can’t Play Myself (A Tribute To Amy)’

Rapper and producer Skepta released a new single in which he samples lyrics from Amy Whitehouse's 2007 single ‘Tears Dry On Their Own’, which features on her album Back To Black.

The house tune is a tribute to the late singer and was cleared by the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

Skepta released the track today, October 13, through his house music label Más Tiempo which he launched back in April with Jammer at a special event at Koko in Camden Town, London.

Last month would have been Winehouse’s 40th birthday. Her friend and collaborator Mark Ronson paid tribute to the artist. “We miss the Lioness so much,” he wrote.

Her live band also announced a special London concert in her honour at Koko in the star’s hometown of Camden on December 22, 2023.
