Singer Suing Demi Lovato and Disney Over Claims 'Frozen' Ripped Off His Song
Jaime Ciero won't 'let it go' and believes the song has "striking similarities" with his own song 'Volar'...
Singer Jaime Ciero is suing Demi Lovato, Disney and Idina Manzel over the song 'Let it Go' - from hit film Frozen - claiming it ripped off his 2008 song 'Volar'. Demi sang the single version released with the soundtrack, while actress Idina Manzel performed the version that features in the Disney film. 'Frozen' was the fifth biggest-selling song of 2013 and the film itself earned over one billion dollars at the box office wordwide.
TMZ broke the news earlier, revealing that Ciero believes his song and 'Let it Go' share "note combinations, structures, hooks, melodies, lyrics, themes, production and textures." Recorded in 2008, the singer has also expressed that 'Volar' was "a huge international success reaching millions of listeners and landing on numerous charts of the most popular, top-performing songs."
If Ciero wins the case he would make millions as TMZ report he "wants profits from the movie, the music, the marketing... you name it."
