Sean-nós singers Séamus and Caoimhe Uí Fhlatharta to drop debut EP this month
The pair's self-titled debut EP is due to be released on February 17th.
Following the success of their viral Late Late Show performance last year, sibling duo Séamus and Caoimhe Uí Fhlatharta are releasing their debut EP. Produced by Brian Whelan and Riverdance composer Bill Whelan, the self-titled record is set to drop 17th February, having been recorded at their studio at The Fort, Roundstone, Connemara.
Their moving sean-nós performance of 'Anach Cuain' went viral when performed on the Late Late Show last year in tribute of Ashling Murphy, who was brutally murdered whilst jogging along the Grand Canal outside Tullamore, Co.Offaly.
The moving lament amassed thousands of views, touching a nation in a national state of mourning following the tragedy.
With music in their blood, Séamus and Caoimhe hail from the village of An Áird Mhóir in the heart of Connemara’s Gaeltacht region.
As multi-instrumentalists, Irish dancers, and skilled vocalists, their native language, Irish, is usually at the heart of their emotional performances. Caoimhe began playing music and singing at 4 years old. Since then the artist has received multiple musical accolades which include two All-Ireland titles, performing at music competitions across the country.
Séamus has been paving his own way since 16, performing all over the world from Asia, North America and throughout mainland Europe. Amassing 23 All Ireland Titles from the age of 7, the young artist has performed alongside some of the biggest names in Irish music and has contributed to numerous records.
Both siblings are currently students at the University of Limerick. Caoimhe is currently studying a BA in Irish Music at the Irish World Academy at UL while Séamus is studying a BA in Applied Languages which includes Irish.
