Scars On Broadway
Surprisingly radio-friendly System Of A Down spin-off
Scars On Broadway features System Of A Down’s maniac guitarist Daron Malakian and drummer John Dolmayan cutting loose a little while their frontman Serj Tankian disappears up his own bumhole touring the world with his own solo effort, and predictably enough, this self-titled release is like a stripped back version of SOAD. Gone are the gonzoid math-rock breakdowns in favour of melodic punk rock song structures and Daron is now singing in a style not too far away from Amen’s Casey Chaos (who, ironically enough, was a former member of the outfit). Hardcore System fans might be a little put off by the (slightly) more radio friendly tunes but will no doubt be happy to hear new material nonetheless.
