A new music space in Cork city opens its doors on the day of Rory's 20th anniversary.
As we commemorate the late, great Rory Gallagher in our next issue (out Thursday), there is a flurry activity in Cork this fortnight to mark the 20th anniversary of his passing.
Of particular note is the official opening of the Rory Gallagher Music Studios on Sunday. Donal Gallagher, Rory's brother, will do the honours, while there will be special Free Camden Live concert featuring Sinnerboy, Mishap and Crojayn in Camden Palace Hotel Community Arts Centre.
Camden Palace has developed the community-based space in the heart of the city with the support of the legendary guitarist's family. The studios contain memorabilia from the official Rory Gallagher archive and aims to provide affordable recording and rehearsal facilities for artists of all ages.
The studios contain memorabilia from the official Rory Gallagher archive and consist of two adjacent spaces – a live/rehearsal room with an adjoining recording suite.
The Rory Gallagher Music Studios will be open for rehearsals Monday to Saturday, 10am – 10pm.
The Recording Suite facilities and viewing access for the general public of the memorabilia can be made by appointment. Go to [link]camdenpalacehotel.org[/link] for more.
