Rollercoaster Castaways
Ursula Burns’ third album reveals an intensely musical individual, equally at home playing piano, harp and percussion.
Ursula Burns’ third album reveals an intensely musical individual, equally at home playing piano, harp and percussion. The songs she writes have an otherworldly, dreamlike feel that’s accentuated by her whispery voice, frequently double-tracked to create ethereal harmonies. Liam Ó Maonlaí does an interesting duet with her on the opening track ‘Keep It In Your Heart’; other guests include Ronán Ó Snodaigh of Kíla, cellist Scott Heron, sax player Lewis Smith and multi-instrumentalist Kieran Kennedy, who produced and engineered the CD in addition to co-writing and assisting with vocals on the wordless ‘Castaways’.
