Pure Rock Fury
Clutch are a decade old and unfortunately sound like it
Oh, how these nu metallers have got it easy. Those of us who lived through the dark days of heavy metal can only watch with envy as they get to listen to cool, credible and actually quite good bands while we had to make do with ridicule, denim jackets and Poison.
Well, the good news for us bitter and twisted types is that bands like Clutch are making a comeback. Old school metal values (crap tunes, crap lyrics, crap singer) riding the nu wave, the band are a decade old and unfortunately sound like it. They certainly roar and rage through tracks like ‘Red Horse Rainbow’ and ‘Drink To The Dead’ but ultimately end up as a lot of bluster and not much else. At times they try and funk it up a bit (‘Careful With That Mic’) but just sound like ZZ Top on bad drugs.
Pure Rock Fury? You can write your own punchline…
