Off of the Wicklow native’s new EP The Brighter Side of Sorrow, ‘All In Your Head’ is accompanied by a brand new music video, shot at the singer-songwriter’s old primary school. Check it out below!
Touching poetics and stark visuals are what define the artistry of Wicklow singer-songwriter Mark Caplice, captured by his illuminating single ‘All In Your Head.’ A track about struggling to grow up and the relatable battle against time, Caplice’s new music video for the single is a deeply meaningful work of art – premiering below exclusively on Hot Press.
Caplice and videographer Oliver Hegarty shot the music video at the singer’s old primary school (Scoil Naomh Iosaf) in Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow. Hegarty, the eye behind the lens, has worked with Michael Fassbender on the Rally of The Lakes documentary, as well as numerous large scale productions including Game Of Thrones and Vikings.
Using the school as a metaphor for life, Caplice explains, “We’re all just big kids stuck at school. Forever learning and stuck in an ageing cycle of youth. No matter our age there will always be times where we pine for our younger years and the days that first defined us. The video is a light hearted depiction of this journey.”
Caplice’s debut EP, The Brighter Side of Sorrow, was released in June of this year to much acclaim. The singer-songwriter and producer seems to also have a knack for memorable music videos, proven by his debut single ‘Catch A Tear’ in 2022, a song which caught the attention of many.
The release of ‘All In Your Head’ earned the Wicklow-bred musician support across Irish and UK radio, including live radio interviews and performances on RTÉ Radio 1 and BBC Sports Scotland. The Recording Academy invited Caplice to be a featured guest on their Reimagined at Home series, where he performed a piano cover of Fleetwood Mac’s 'The Chain' which is still beautifully seared in our memory, and earned the attention of the band’s famed guitarist Lindsay Buckingham.
