Premiere: Dowry shares music video for 'Numb'
Hot Press presents the stunning new music video for Dowry's latest single 'Numb'.
Ahead of her first ever headline show at the Pepper Canister Church on October 17, Dowry shares the music video for her latest single 'Numb' directed by Ronan Fox. The song marks the first release of a handful of new Dowry material multi-instrumentalist Éna Brennan has been working on this past year.
'Numb' follows on from Éna's one-take experimental and purely instrumental debut single 'In É', which was named "one of the most arresting songs of 2018" by Hot Press' Edwin McFee. Although strings remain at the forefront of Dowry's sound, with 'Numb' we now find the addition of the voice, guitar, keys and percussion; instruments which have since crept into her live setup.
The song as well as the video were inspired by an incident Éna experienced last year when she went for a swim in ice-cold water.
"My body was exhausted and almost completely numb, yet I felt elated", she recalls, "My shuddering body was in a state of shock (verging on hypothermia) yet my mind was completely tranquil and calm. This very strange combination stuck with me for a while; this separation between mind and body."
