Plus One
Richard Brophy gives Plus One a plus ten...
‘Plus One’ is one of the finest German electronic albums of recent years. “We’ve seen the future and it’s boring”, SUDS casually remark at the start of ‘Plus One’, but what follows is a manifesto that their glitch-house, ironic-pop peers need to get down with. Recent single ‘Gone’, ‘Charlotte De Gaulle’ and ‘Work In Progress’ are but three examples of SUDS’ ability to effortlessly fuse infectious melodies and pithy, mocking vocals – and, like all the best German ideas, the throbbing yet precise dance floor dynamics that drives ‘Plus One’ is the kind of Vorsprung durch techno that everyone needs.
