Pebbledash - On Our Radar Q&A: "Our music is all about texture, and kind of ugly and pretty..."
Cork alt-rockers Pebbledash tell us about their new EP, To Cast The Sea In Concrete.
How did you choose your name?
Fionnbharr: I did architecture in college. Our music is all about texture, and kind of ugly and pretty. In a funny way, pebbledash is like that as well.
What’s the biggest thing you’ve learned?
Fionnbharr: Having confidence in ourselves and knowing what we want.
Cormac: To trust that the people in the band know best.
Fionnbharr: And don’t sleep on the airport floors in London.
Tell us about your new EP.
Cormac: I’m very proud of this collection, because we’ve taken so much of what we’ve learned from previous recordings, and distilled the songs exactly to their essence.
What’s the best part about performing live?
Fionnbharr: The uncertainty of things.
Cormac: The visceral feeling of seeing how audiences react to the music is really nice.
Are there any plans for an album?
Fionnbharr: We would love to do that next year. EPs are great, and it’s nice to have those little flavours of what we do out there, but a full body of work would be really cool.
Cormac: With this EP we have coming out, we’re building up to that full statement. It’s not quite an album, but it’s something I still think is very cohesive, and we can stand over it and be really proud.
To Cast The Sea In Concrete is out now.
