Onward
Space rockers still reaching for the stars
Album no.25 from Dave Brock and his bunch of space cadets is a double disc set, packed with bug-eyed epics and sabre-rattling sci-fi romps. Opening with the surprisingly heavy sounds of ‘Seasons’, the stomping ‘The Hills Have Ears’, ‘Death Trap’ and more provide some good old fashioned head’s down, no nonsense, mindless boogie, while the alien lullaby ‘Southern Cross’ is a masterclass in mind-fuckery. Their live album Space Ritual still stands as their greatest achievement but Onward is a strong addition to their back catalogue.
