No Time To Explain
sixteen breakneck examples of rock 'n' reel
Punk. Folk. Not the most obvious of bedfellows – Johnny Rotten was certainly never spotted in an Aran jumper – but nevertheless a combination that produced a string of cult bands (and one hugely influential London-Irish act) at the turn of the nineties. No Time To Explain harks back to those days, sixteen breakneck examples of rock ‘n’ reel.
No matter how much of their own identity the Kildare six piece try to inject, they can never step out of the shadow of others who have done this before and a lot better. ‘Sober Again’ is an interesting look at the Irish drinking culture and easily the best songwriting effort on show, countered somewhat by the anti-Bob Geldolf rant ‘Your Majesty’, which seems to suggest that the English were to blame for the famine in Ethiopia.
