Nevertheless
While some of his minimalist peers place more importance on their party antics than their productions, US producer Geoff White seems content to beaver away in the background.
While some of his minimalist peers place more importance on their party antics than their productions, US producer Geoff White seems content to beaver away in the background. ‘Nevertheless’, his latest album, has an abstract approach, punctuated by off beats, noisy percussion and gasping rhythms. At times, it sounds like White has spent too much time in front of his machines and should get out more. But just as it threatens to lapse into yet another self-indulgent project, he saves face and lurches towards he dance floor with the chugging ‘Starstruck’ and the sci-fi themed ‘Student Teacher’.
