Neil Halstead: Palindrome Hunches
Former slowdrive man makes subliume new solo lp
Neil Halstead is the founder of the seminal shoegaze outfit Slowdive and principal songwriter with Mojave 3, and Palindrome Hunches is his third solo album. Recorded live over four days in a primary school in Wallingford, England, the opus is full of evocative, string-laden folk music that’s warm and fuzzy but also has a sense of drama. Opening with the gorgeous ‘Digging Shelters’, highlights include the dark and brooding ‘Spin The Bottle’ and the uplifting ‘Sandy’ (which features some fantastic fiddle-work). Worth hearing.
