Ms Mr: Secondhand Rapture
Game of Thrones approved electro poppers GO for the jugular
Game of Thrones approved electro poppers GO for the jugular
You could spot Ms Mr’s influences from outer space. There’s a glimmer of Lana Del Rey, lots of Florence and The Machine and a dollop of Swedish electro weirdos The Knife. Indeed, their debut would be rather staid – other peoples’ ideas in shiny new wrapping – were the songs not so gorgeous.
Singer Lizzy Plapinger has a crisp, tough enunciation, the perfect foil for composer Max Hershenow’s bare-boned electro dirges. You may already be familiar with the roiling ‘Bones’, which was used to soundtrack the season three promos for Game Of Thrones – but it is eclipsed by the swoonful ‘Hurricane’, a beautiful slice of high-tempo chill-wave, outfitted with an knee-trembling groove. Stand back: they could be huge.
Key Track:'Hurricane'
