Live Review: Maya Jane Coles @ Forbidden Fruit
Maya Jane Cole didn't say a word as she took the decks of the Undergrowth stage, preferring instead to get straight down to business. The tent was packed to maximum capacity and numerous more revellers listened from the outside and danced along the perimeter.
The UK based DJ and producer waisted no time in get the crowd bouncing with her live mixing and live choreographed light show and graphics. Animated faders on mixing desks slide up and down to the beat while the tent was illuminated in brilliant purple and green light.
The thicker the bass became the louder the crowd was. The whistling and chanting from the audience never ceased from the moment she began mixing. A series of swift and seamless transitions kept the the audience jumping as if the ground was a giant trampoline. Cole was consistently energetic throughout and the crowd consistently responded to the heavy drops. She put in not only one of the performances of the day, but also one of best of the entire weekend.
