LIVE REPORT: It's rave reviews all round as Liam Gallagher kicks off his Definitely Maybe tour in Sheffield
See the full set-list as Liam gets ready to rock Thomond Park, Limerick and Vital, Belfast in July
It was 1994 all over again last Saturday as Liam Gallagher launched into his Definitely Maybe 30th Anniversary tour with a barnstormer of a gig in Sheffield's Utilita Arena.
The tour pitches up here on July 14 when Liam plays Thomond Park, Limerick with special guests The Mary Wallopers. Two nights later he's in Belfast for an equally massive Vital festival appearance.
"The glorious show marking the 30th anniversary of Definitely Maybe was a reminder that no audience sings louder than an Oasis audience," was the Daily Telegraph's verdict while the headline in The Guardian was: "Oasis frontman delivers Definitely Maybe in all its 90's glory." The performance also got a 'thumbs up' from his local paper, the Manchester Evening News, who ran with "Fans go wild as Liam Gallagher kicks off Definitely Maybe tour."
There were ooh-s and just as many aah-s from the sellout crowd when Liam played 'Half The World Away' for the first time live. He dedicated it to "his little brother, who is still playing hard to get." Liam claims that Noel, who is actually six years his senior, turned down an offer to join him for the Definitely Maybe birthday dates.
There was another surprise halfway through the Utilita Arena set when Liam covered the Noel Gallagher and His High Flying Birds song, 'Lock All The Doors'.
SPOLER ALERT!!! Here's the all killer, zero filler Sheffield setlist in full:
‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Star’

‘Shakermaker’
‘Up In The Sky’
‘Digsy’s Dinner’
‘Bring It On Down’
‘Cloudburst’
‘I Will Believe’
'Half The World Away’
‘D’Yer Wanna Be A Spaceman’
‘Fade Away’
‘Lock All The Doors’
‘(It’s Good) To Be Free’

Talking earlier in the year to Hot Press about playing in Ireland, Liam said: "I'm not a big boozer now when I'm on tour, I have to behave meself. I might slip in a cheeky one and that, but I'll have to be fucking careful because the wheels can come off very quickly! I'll be buzzing, though, for the crowd. They don't need any fucking encouragement from me!"
Tickets for this Thomond Park, Limerick show are priced from €69.90 and are on sale from https://www.ticketmaster.ie/liam-gallagher-definitely-maybe-30-years-limerick-city-14-07-2024/event/18005F848105808A
